David E. Haines, MD, FACC, is the Corporate Chief of Cardiology and the Director of the Heart Rhythm Center, Electrophysiology Services, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Haines graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed his post-graduate training at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont. Fellowships were completed at the University of Virginia Hospital. From 1986 to 2003, Dr. Haines served in various Professor of Medicine positions at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was also the Co-Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory at that hospital for over 13 years before joining the staff at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan.

Dr. Haines is certified in Clinical Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Diseases and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Haines' expertise centers on using the latest technology to treat arrhythmias as well as performing other cardiac procedures such as ablations, pacemakers and implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD). He has a strong research interest in complex supraventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. In addition, Dr. Haines is the recipient of numerous grants and awards and serves on various national committees.
